So it’s the announcement that I’ve been waiting for, and the whole point of this blog.
I could shout it from the rooftops. It’s only the beginning of our mammoth round-the-world adventure, but the first step is the most important one, right!?
I’m thrilled to be able to say that we are flying out to Hong Kong on February 28th, and what’s even better is the cheapest flight I found happens to give us an entire day’s layover in Saigon, Vietnam.
Vietnam has become a destination of my dreams, so this is the perfect opportunity to dip our toes into this fascinating country before we hit it full on, and I’m delighted that it’s unexpectedly going to be the first country we touch down in. Plus it avoids the entire headache of organising an overpriced visa in the UK, and instead we can get a multi-visit one at the airport hassle-free!
From Hong Kong, we will head back to Vietnam via China, and work our way down from Hanoi to Saigon and the Mekong Delta. From there we’ll have a jaunt in Cambodia on our way into Thailand. The rest is a little hazy but it’s likely that we’ll end up in Singapore for a flight to Australia, where we will, fingers crossed, be able to work for a few months!
Most of you that know me will know that I have been planning this trip for years. It keeps getting bigger and bigger; it started as very centred around Australia, with perhaps a 3 week whirlwhind stop in Thailand. Now, as you can see, we are probably going to end up doing more ground miles in Asia than Oz altogether!
I AM SO EXCITED I CANNOT EVEN TELL YOU.
