Another trip; another collection of silly photos…

I was planning to share some ridiculous photos from our time in Tallinn, which seems to be a common theme for a lot of my posts, but in case you hadn’t noticed, I already had far too many “proper” photos in my main post about the trip! I started to add a couple of these silly ones, and realised I actually had too many “un-proper” ones as well.

So here we go, an entire collection of stupid photos to complement my batshit crazy Riga ones… but in case you think it’s a Baltics thing, I do have a habit of taking these everywhere.

Most photos on the blog are from my camera because that’s what I use for all the “good” photos… but my phone is full of absolute rubbish like this. My Dad very quickly accepted that my travel style is “wandering and then suddenly stopping to take a photo of something ridiculous”. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!

First up, I shared a few silly photos last time I went to Tallinn, and I have an update on one of them – which makes a nice, festive start seeing as this will be my last post before Christmas.

Haunted festive teddy, Tallinn, Estonia

This haunted teddy that looked like it was on its last legs is now all festive!

For reference, here he is last year:

The saddest looking giant stuffed bunny ever, Tallinn, Estonia

I mean he was even chained up! Poor guy. I think he looks just as tormented in the festive photo, but at least his outfit is a bit more jolly even if his demeanour is not.

Next up:

Me sitting on the goofy wiener bench, Tallinn, Estonia

This is marked “goofy wiener bench” on Google Maps… isn’t he fantastic? I never got a photo with him last time so I had to this time around!

And something quirky that’s been making the rounds online and was close to our hotel: the Estonian opera house car park!

The what, you ask?

Estonian Opera House car park with conductor hands, Tallinn, Estonia

Yes, the car park entrance is a conductor’s hand with a baton! Love it.

Sassy lion, Tallinn, Estonia

This sassy lion.

I need to make a photo compilation post of all the ridiculous lions I’ve seen on my travels… I think this guy might be one of my favourites so far!

Insane cat character in the maritime museum, Tallinn, Estonia

We also ended up in a little yellow submarine (yes, really… all together now…) in the Estonian maritime museum, where this insane character straight out of Cats told us how we can save the oceans.

We may have been more entertained by this than the kids in there, to be honest. Certainly more baffled.

Me with a gnome gonk thing, Tallinn, Estonia

I met a gnome.

Bear at the Beer House, Tallinn, Estonia

Dad met a bear.

Guy wearing a "no time to fuck" t shirt, Tallinn, Estonia

One of my favourite things on the entire trip, in Balti Jaama market. I had to do a double take!

“Dad… Dad… look at that guy’s t shirt!!!!”

I shared some photos of equally unhinged postcards last time (probably from the same shop!) but I think that honey one might be a winner… errrrrr.

Vintage Pood sign, Tallinn, Estonia

Vintage what???

Lingonberry and chili mulled wine, Tallinn, Estonia

The weirdest mulled wine flavour I saw. I was kinda tempted, but 8โ‚ฌ for the alcoholic one is steep! And how are you meant to choose between that, limoncello, and apple pie?

Leading down into a weapons museum, Tallinn, Estonia

Erm, speaking of steep… this entrance to a museum!!??

The toilet signs in Kompressor, which yes, is a pancake place. Loved these!

Some mad menus. The first one is from a pelmeni (dumpling) restaurant, and the duck one is called “Donald Parts”. They serve Donald Duck!!!!

The second has … Dr Pepper Taco Soup. (Though the Estonian looks suspiciously like tomato soup…)

Friends with benedicts sign, Tallinn, Estonia

Although this place serves friends with benedicts.

A building on a metal tree, Tallinn, Estonia

This is a photo from my last trip, although I did actually see this again this time and gleefully pointed it out to Dad (an ex-builder). A building on a metal “tree”! Totally mental.

Dog help poster, Tallinn, Estonia

HELP!

(Oh! I also saw an advert with Kaarija, the Finnish Eurovision runner-up, and got VERY excited!)

Teddy from Monaco apparently, Tallinn, Estonia

This teddy bear who’s apparently from Monaco, and looks considerably less haunted than the first bear. Probably because he’s rich if he’s from Monaco.

Dad with a cow outside Goodwin's restaurant, Tallinn, Estonia

And finally, this caused a bit of a ruckus on Facebook when I posted that Dad was making friends with the locals. A family friend piped up that he thought my Mum had stayed at home, and all hell broke loose!! We are awaiting his obituary in a local paper.

That concludes the madness that is my phone’s photo roll. Thanks for indulging me – I guarantee this won’t be the last time.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, however you’re spending it. We’ll be with both of our families, and although I’m working up until lunchtime on Christmas Eve, we’re looking forward to some time off with the 4 day weekend.

Catch you all for my 2025 round-up!
